Beryl Burke

April 18, 1926 — August 26, 2011

Beryl Margaret Burke, age 85, a 45 year resident of Glen Burnie, died of natural causes on August 26, 2011 at St. Agnes Hospital. Mrs. Burke was born April 18, 1926 in Everett, Massachusetts and graduated from Everett High School in 1944. She was formally a secretary at an insurance company, but spent most of her life as a homemaker raising her family. She moved to Glen Burnie in 1959 when her husband became employed at the Social Security Administration.
Survivors include her husband, David M. Burke; two daughters, Karen F. Hayes of Orlando, FL and Kathleen M. Marshall of Kent Island; three sons, Michael D. Burke of Pasadena, Warren J. Burke of Ellicott City, Kevin R. Burke of White Marsh; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Stevenson, Constance York; one brother, Army 1st Lieutenant Warren S. Perry who died in action on duty in Italy in 1943, and a son-in-law, Navy pilot Lieutenant Michael Hayes who died in a plane crash off the Azores in 1978. Mrs. Burke enjoyed her family, traveling and eating out. She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Glen Burnie for 45 years and was active in the religious education, Senior Citizens Club and Eucharistic Minister programs. She was also a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees, Chapter 1519 of Glen Burnie.
