On January 15th, 2016, Bessie Ann Brown-Fincham, our beloved wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma, after struggling with cancer, went home to be united with her loved ones who have gone before her. She is survived by her husband, John William Fincham, a veteran and retired truck maintenance supervisor; her son and daughter, Kermit John Fincham and his wife Dianna, Connie Ann Baker-Gannon and her husband Thomas Gannon; her sisters, Betty Hill and Phyllis Knaggs and her husband Benny; six grandchildren Christy Flora and her husband Steven, Mindie Fincham, David Fincham, Stephen Fincham, Melissa Ann Baker, and Justin Baker and his wife Laurie; and four great-grandchildren, Hannah Woolford, Madison Flora, Cora Ann Baker, and Dylan Baker. She is also survived by her prior son-in-law, Charles Baker, Jr. and Judy Smith, whom she lovingly called her "adopted daughter."
Bessie was born in Huttonsville, West Virginia, to coal miner Albert Brown and his wife O'Dessie Rush on October 17th, 1934. She and John were married on September 4th, 1954, at her family home and have been married for sixty-two years. She was a homemaker, loved to shop, and had achieved her cosmetology license. A very caring person, she was always there to help family and others in their time of need.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1041 Rt. 3 North Building A1; Gambrills, MD 21054. You may be gone, but your memory and feisty spirit will remain in our hearts.
