George Henry, 85, of Severn, passed away on April 19, 2022 after a long battle with COPD. The son of Romanian-Hungarian immigrants, Eli L. Henry and Florence M. (Lazaar) Henry, he was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the youngest of seven siblings (all of whom were predeceased). George served in the US Army for 23 years. After being honorably discharged in 1977, he worked as a Federal Employee and earned a mechanical engineering degree. George is survived by his beloved wife of over 64 years, Soon Ja Henry, and was the beloved father of Christine Henry Jones, Steven Henry, George Henry, Jr. (deceased), and his fur-baby, Prince Henry. He is survived by several in-laws; Vincent Hurteau (son-in-law), Gloria Henry (sister-in-law), Bong Han Kim (brother-in-law), Young Han Kim (brother-in-law) and Young Hwa Kim (sister-in-law). In addition, he has numerous nieces and nephews in Maryland, Indiana and South Korea.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Avenue SW (at Crain Hwy) on Monday, April 25th from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A mass will be held at St. Lawrence Martyr Church, 7850 Parkside Blvd., Hanover, MD 21076 on Tuesday, April 26th at 11:00 AM. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
As George loved children and animals, contributions may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Inc.-OR- the SPCA of Anne Arundel County in Annapolis. The family also suggests contributions to the COPD Foundation in his memory.
