John Richard Bell, 69, of Glen Burnie died on September 14, 2011 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a 3 year battle with cancer. John was born in 1942 in Baltimore, MD. After graduating from high school, he became MHIC certified, HVAC certified and was a 2nd Grade Stationary Engineer. He worked for Verizon for 34 years as a Building Engineer. Later he became a self-employed general contractor and also worked as a building engineer at W.W. Contractors, Inc. John served in the US Navy as a Seaman from 1961-1966, where he was honorably discharged as an Airport Serviceman. He was a member of the Coyote Club and Bally Total Fitness. John was also Past President of Unity By the Bay, Board of Trustees. His hobbies included fishing, boating, motorcycles, physical fitness and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Bell. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joyce Bell; three children, Aaron Bell, Jennifer Alexander and Tim Poole; five grandchildren, Madeline Bell, Amelia Bell, Katie Alexander, Braden John Alexander and Allison Alexander; mother, Catherine Bell; and siblings, Helen Walsh, Ron Bell, Cathy Amend and Debbie Rey.
