Mary Joan Mchugh

On Thursday, October 27th, Mary Joan McHugh died peacefully at home in Glen Burnie Md. She was born October 1st 1945, the second of three daughters, born to Robert and Bessie Carter.  She was raised in Baltimore but eventually moved to Ferndale where she raised her family alongside her beloved husband, James. She alternated between working and being a stay at home mom. She worked in her younger years for Montgomery Wards in Baltimore. Later, she worked for US Foods in the credit department.

She loved to read, travel, and most importantly spend time with friends and family

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 52 years, James J. McHugh; her parents, Rob and Bessie Carter; and her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Timothy McGarry.

She is survived by her loving children, James McHugh (Kelli) and Tina Krug (George); and her cherished grandchildren, Robert, Katy and Cassy. She is also survived by her dear sister, Gloria Leeds (Harry); her sister-in-law, Beverly Jackson; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by so many friends and family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 1st, from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 PM at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, 1 2nd Avenue SW, Glen Burnie (at Crain Hwy). A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, 1:30 PM, in the funeral home chapel.
