Wayne Thurman Brown Sr.

February 26, 1941 — September 3, 2019

Wayne Thurman Brown, Sr., 78, of Pasadena passed away on September 3, 2019. Wayne was born on February 26, 1941 in Virginia and was raised in South Baltimore by his Aunt and Uncle Milby. He started working as a teen at Morsteins Jewelry Store on Light Street, and then at the Raleigh Clothes Suit Manufacturing Company for 12 years. Wayne joined and served in the National Guard for 6 years. In 1970, he began his career as a Baltimore City Firefighter and he retired after 30 years of service. Wayne was also a self-employed house painter for more than 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his Aunt and Uncle Milby; his mother, Lillian Cosgrove; two brothers, Calvin Booker and Billy Cosgrove; and one brother-in-law, Joseph Caviness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Susanne Caviness Brown; his devoted son, Wayne T. Brown, Jr. and his wife Misty; his cherished granddaughter, Emily Susanne Brown; two step-grandchildren, Taylor and Michael Buck; three sisters, Laverne Merson, Sharon McAleer and Patricia Ferreira; two brothers, Edward Barnes and Martin Cosgrove; three sisters-in-law, Betty Arnold, Shirley Baer and Martina Cosgrove; and three brothers-in-law, George McAleer, Thomas and Michael Caviness. He also leaves behind a large family including Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Godchildren, as well as many loving Friends.

The family will receive visitors at the family owned Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave SW (at Crain Hwy) Glen Burnie on Sunday, September 8th and Monday, September 9th from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 10th, at 10 AM, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery.
