Phyllis Mccreary

December 11, 1934 — January 8, 2017

Phyllis Irene McCreary, 82, of Glen Burnie, passed away on January 8, 2017. She was born in Midland, MD to the late William and Lula Bell Truly. A graduate of Beall High School in Frostburg, MD, she worked in administration at then Frostburg State Teachers College and the University of Maryland at College Park. Later, she was active in her church, Messiah United Methodist, as an event manger, office administrator and choir member. Phyllis devoted her life to her family, as a loving mother, a proud grandmother and joyful great-grandmother. She was a music lover, with a particular affinity for vocal performance and an avid reader.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by two sisters, Isabel Jones and Betty Lou Simpson; two brothers, William J. Truly and Edward Truly; and beloved niece and nephews, Vicky Shingler, Dennis Bartlett, Danny Jones and Dale Jones.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joseph C. McCreary; a sister, Anna Mae Alexander; her children and their spouses, Joseph D. McCreary and Linda McCreary, Julie C. Savage and Paul Savage, Frank William McCreary and Chandra McCreary; grandchildren, Joseph B. McCreary, Matthew Savage, Emily Jordan and her husband Tyler Jordan, Frank McCreary, Michael McCreary, and Ashley Smith; and one great-grandson, Joseph A. McCreary.
