Rebecca Harding

Rebecca Lee Harding died of complications from cancer at the University of Maryland Medical Center early Sunday morning, November 12, 2006. Born Rebecca Lee Himmelmann in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 20, 1962, she lived in the midwest until she moved to Cape St. Claire/Annapolis in 1974. She graduated from Severna Park Senior High School in June 1980. After attending Anne Arundel Community College, she finished her college work at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in June 1985 where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. She did her graduate work at the Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering, receiving her Masters Degree cum laude in May of 1997.
Mrs. Harding's professional career began at AAI in 1985 where she became a Senior Engineering Analyst and TSSC Area Lead working on the Joint Stars Maintenance trainer. She also worked at B-to-B Software Applications and Corvis Corporation of Columbia, MD. She was last employed at Arinc in Annapolis where she was Manager of Information Engineering. She received numerous honors including several Technical Merit Awards and the Arinc Women In Leadership Award in 2005.
Rebecca was a member of the Severna Park United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Harding was devoted to her son Jeffrey Reamy Harding, Jr., age 10, and her husband Jeffrey Reamy Harding, Sr., a professional musician in which she was married to for 17 years. She was also survived by her parents, Thomas M. and Kay L. Himmelmann of Cape St. Claire and numerous cousins and in-laws.
Rebecca had a variety of interests, foremost was spending time with her family. She was a Cub Scout den mother and loved the activities. Snow skiing, snorkeling, scuba diving, camping and caving were among the activities she enjoyed. She vacationed every year with her family in Ocean City, Harpers Ferry and at ski resorts. She also enjoyed sailing, racing, and cruising the Chesapeake Bay. Her last vacation was to Disney World in Orlando.
