ADAM GLENN WHITE, 83 of Linthicum Heights and Naples, Florida, passed away on December 14, 2013 in Columbia, MD. He was born on July 25, 1930 in McDonald, Mississippi. He was a combat veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. White attended City College in Baltimore and graduated from the University of Maryland in 1958. He was a business and community leader in Anne Arundel County for over 30 years. He was Co-founder & Vice President of Whitegate Realty in the 1960's and then owner of Glen Burnie Stationers from 1970-1991. He served as Director of Economic Development for Anne Arundel County 1979-1981, Director for the Health Association for Anne Arundel County and Linthicum Health Center, Commissioner for the Commission of Women 1975-1977, was a member of the Board of License Commissioners 1979-1981, was on the Governor's Committee to promote employment of the handicapped. Mr. White was President of the Baltimore Office Product Association 1982-1984, and he was an active leader in the Greater Glen Burnie Chamber of Commerce and served as president in 1970 and 1977. In retirement, he was a tireless volunteer at the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Florida. He was an avid runner, and enjoyed working on his farm in Virginia on weekends, fishing, bird watching and traveling. Mr. White was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Delma Dunford White and his parents, Adam G. and Ruth C. White. He is survived by his children, Douglas White of Clarksville, MD and Rena White Heneghan of Ellicott City, MD; his siblings, Donald White of Kent Island, MD, Joseph White of Hanover, PA, Faith Bryant and Mary Lynn Kozlowski of Fincastle, VA; his grandchildren, Meghan Dunford Heneghan, Andrew Glenn White, Kerry Eileen Heneghan, Elizabeth Cliburn White and Bailey Clare Heneghan.
Donations to the National Audubon Society in his honor are preferred.
