Alberta Jeanette Scott was born November 12, 1944 in Madison, Louisiana to the late Everett and Mattie Johnson. Alberta accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of River of Life Worship Center in Odenton, Maryland where she remained a faithful member and Deaconess until the Lord called her home September 18, 2016.
She graduated from W.A. Higgins High School in Clarksdale, MS (Class of '63) and went on to attend Coahoma Junior College in Clarksdale and Mississippi Valley State College in Itta Bena, MS. She then went on to work for the Clarksdale Public School as a secretary. Alberta was a member of the Chantile Social Club, the Mississippi Baptist Training Union and Association, the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Financial Clerk (Clarksdale, MS), and Deaconess at the River of Life Worship Center.
Bert, Mamma, Grandmother, Gigi, Ms. Alberta and Queen Alberta were affectionate names she was so fondly called by those who loved her. She loved reading the Bible, cooking, reading, shopping, and loving her family and friends unconditionally.
Alberta leaves to cherish her memory: Her beloved children, Cassandra (John) Marbury of Hanover, MD, Terry (Erica) Johnson of Fredericksburg, VA, Lawrence (Pecola) Johnson of Clarksdale, MS; Keisha (Freddie) Hallie of Stafford, VA, Neika Thompson of Tunica, MS, James Hallie Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO, and Claudell Carter Jr. of Hanover, MD; her dear siblings, Earless Anderson of Clarksdale, MS, Daisy Reed of Las Vegas, NV, Freddie Reed of Las Vegas, NV, and Rufus Ward of Mounds, LA; her loving grandchildren, Lorenzo, Tiera, Kenneth (Florence), Donnielle, Brittany, Frederick, Eric, Erik Martez, Chloe, Michael, Brandon, Hallie, Chetonya, Erin, Joshua, Breanna, Jacoby, Kai'viaun, Tanesha, Sean (Taryn), and Keyia; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Jaylen, Mykaelah, De'Andre, De'Jon Aniyah, Sydney, and Sage.
She is survived by a host of other relatives and special friends. Alberta was predeceased by her husband, James Edward Hallie Sr.; Claudell Carter Sr. and John Scott and her brother, Timothy Reed and her granddaughter, Deanna Nicole Thompson.
Visitation will be held at River of Life Worship Center, 8232 Redmiles Lane, Odenton, MD 21113, on Friday, September 23rd, from 11AM -12 noon. A Celebration of Life Service will be held immediately following at 12 noon. Interment at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
