Alexander Raymond McDowell, 26, passed away on September 13, 2015. He was born Alexander Olegovich Kostalanov on May 10, 1989 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Alex graduated from Old Mill High School and enrolled in an apprenticeship program as an industrial painter with the IUPAT District Council 51. At the time of his passing Alex was employed as a tower climber with a wireless communications company in New Jersey.
Alex was an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens. He could always be seen sporting his Ravens gear and referring to every other team as "garbage." Watching a football game with him was always fun because he could yell at the television like no other and he thought the Ravens would win the Super Bowl every year.
Alex loved watching sappy romance movies, playing cards and board games. His favorite movie however was The Patriot. His favorite television show was Sons of Anarchy. Alex often visited Ft. McHenry in Baltimore and he had an amazing knowledge of U.S. military history. He always wanted a pit bull that he would name Ray. Alex was a gardener and was very proud of his tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant and other vegetables that he grew.
Alex was preceded in death by his mother, Kelly Sullivan; stepfather, Daniel F. Sullivan, Jr.; and his grandfather, Raymond Frombgen.
He is survived by his father, Kurtis I. McDowell; girlfriend, Chanel Trader; and grandmother, Leola Frombgen. Alex had many friends and family who loved him and will mourn his passing.
In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to: The Salvation Army, Adult Rehabilitation Center, 2700 W. Patapsco Ave, Baltimore MD 21230.
