Angela Caltabiano (nee Tomarchio) passed away on Saturday morning, April 22, 2006, in McAllen, Texas. Born and raised in Little Italy in Baltimore, Maryland, she graduated high school and became a personnel administrator at a time when, as she was fond of saying "women were supposed to be stenos". The family moved to Weslaco in 1976 to escape the snow. Then mom spent the next 30 years complaining about the heat. She loved the local music and dance, though, and managed the Ballet Folklorico del Valle for many years. She loved sappy, romantic movies, Italian opera, reading, flowers and the birds who came to eat and drink each day in her yard. But most of all, she loved her family - they were her life. Her final words were, "Love you, babe". What more can anyone ask of life than to have had such a capacity for love. She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Caltabiano-Ponce and son-in-law Manuel Ponce (both of Weslaco); her former husband, Marco Caltabiano (of Weslaco); her uncle, John P. Trovato (of Baltimore); her aunt, Mary Trovato (of Baltimore) and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and godchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Agatino Tomarchio and Frances Trovato Tomarchio.
