Anna Walter

Anna Eleanor Walter (nee Canning) 95, a resident of Linthicum Heights for 64 years, passed away on February 6, 2018. Eleanor was born on December 23, 1922 in Morgantown, WV. She graduated from Patterson High School in 1940. Eleanor worked as a secretary at Montgomery Wards on Monroe Street in Baltimore and assisted her husband as secretary to Monarch Roofing Company. She loved to travel and had many nice RV trips. She bowled for many years with St. Philip Neri Sodality, with whom she was a member. Eleanor also enjoyed shopping, dancing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice L. Walter. Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Susan M. Handy and husband, Victor; and Barbara Bennett and husband, Terry; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Handy and wife, Susan; Elizabeth Handy, Mason, Madison and Mitchell Bennett; her great-grandchildren, Jacob, Nicholas and Joshua Handy and Hunter Cory; her siblings, Eileen Canning and Joseph Canning and wife, Betty.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Monday, Feb. 12th from 3-5 & 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Philip Neri Church on Tuesday at 10 AM. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
