ANTHONY LEON BELLOTTE, Sr. "Tony," 78, died on December 11, 2017 in his home. He was born on June 1, 1939, in Clarksburg, West Virginia. He graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1957 and soon after joined the United States Navy. He then went to Bainbridge, Maryland where he attended Communications Technician School. While in the Navy he was stationed in Great Lakes, IL, Treasure Island, California, Guam Island, Washington, DC, where he went to the Naval Intelligence Spanish Language Training School in Anacostia, and then to San Juan Puerto Rico.
Tony served at sea, on the Blockade during the Cuban Crisis; Volunteered to take on military
duties overseas as a civilian to release Military to go to Vietnam; and worked extensively in South America on Counter Drug activities for various Contractor companies. He is an awardee of the US Navy Honorable Discharge, Good Conduct Medal and the Civilian Meritorious Service Medal. With all the hard work mentioned above, completed by the thousands of people who worked with him over these many years and to whom he owes a great amount of gratitude.
He was honorable discharged from the Navy after serving five years and returned to
Clarksburg, WV. About nine months later he was offered a Job at the National Security Agency in Fort Meade, Maryland as a Linguist/Traffic Analyst. He was also enrolled in a Cryptology Course and then completed a Portuguese Language course.
In 1964 he was offered a job in England where he worked for the next eight years, and then returned to the Fort Meade, Maryland site for a special project. While in England, he used his GI Bill at night school and attended the University of Maryland graduating in 1972. Upon completion of that project he was selected to be Chief of Station of an overseas location for the next 14 months and then returned to Fort Meade, Maryland. During this time he attended Night School again this time earning his MBA from Central Michigan University.
He worked in several different senior level positions during this time which required extensive travel all over the world. In 1985 he was selected to move to back to a different location in England as the Director of Operations and performed in that capacity until 1988 at which time he was promoted to the Chief of Station position. He returned to the US in 1990. For the next several years he work in various Management capacities at NSA Fort Meade.
In 1996, He retired from the federal government and went to work for several commercial Contractor Companies for the next 12 years and retired from Lockheed
Martin in 2004. He did return to work as VP of Special Programs for Merlin INT. before finally retiring for good. He worked from home for several years as VP Business Management for ASI of Melbourne, Florida and Columbia,MD.
Tony is survived by his wife Jody Georgene Bellotte, daughter Maria Austin-
Bellotte, husband Grant Austin, son Joseph David Bellotte, wife Teresa, and son Anthony II Bellotte, and wife Tracey and brother David Bellotte of Clarksbug, WV. We have 8 Grand-Children and 6 Great-Grandchildren. Tony and Jody remained in
Severn, Maryland. Tony also has five nephews, with their families, who live in the Annapolis, Maryland, and work in the immediate surrounding area.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave, SW (at Crain Hwy), in Glen Burnie, on Sunday, December 17th, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held during the evening visitation at 6:30 PM in the funeral home chapel. Tony will be buried in the MD Veterans Cemetery - Crownsville.
