On October 29, 2005, Anthony Henry Stupi of Glen Burnie, formerly of Baltimore, passed away at home. Anthony was the devoted husband of the late Dorothy Guffrey Stupi for 49 years; Beloved father of Veronica Blake, Margie Nogueira; Dottie Phelps and Hank Stupi; Loving brother of Mildred Andrykovitch and Raymond, Stanley, Walter and John Stupi; Cherished grandfather of Brian, Eric and Matthew Stupi, Stephanie Dempsey, Natalie Broadwater, Greg Phelps, Amanda Dayton and Adriane Blake; Dearest great-grandfather of 4. He is predeceased by five brothers and one grandson, Alex Blake.
Tony stopped attending Beaverdale High School (in Pennsylvania) in order to go to work to help support his family. He later continued his education and obtained his GED in 1985 at the age of 68. He served his country in the U.S. Army in the 1940's. Tony worked as a meat cutter at Corkran Hill & Company, and later at Maryland Hotel Supply Company from where he retired in 1981. Tony also umpired professional Minor League Baseball throughout Alabama, Ohio and Pennsylvania in the late 1940's. In the early 1950's he began officiating baseball, basketball and soccer for the Maryland Scholastic Association, Bureau of Recreation and various colleges all over Maryland, including the Naval Academy. He was a sports official for well over 40 years. He enjoyed all things related to sports, music and dancing (especially the polka!). Tony loved watching his grandchildren play sports and take part in athletic activities. Recently, he enjoyed participating in programs at the Pascal Senior Center.
