Artlette June McMahan

     Artlette June "Snookie" McMahan passed away August 23, 2023 after an almost 10 year battle with Alzheimer’s.  She was 80 years old.  Snookie was born on October 25, 1942, in Severn, Maryland to the late Gordon and June Hood.  She graduated from Arundel High School in 1961.  Snookie married her husband, Ron, in 1965, and welcomed her daughter, Donna, in 1966.  She worked various jobs, including Foster’s Restaurant and Westinghouse, but her favorite job was driving school buses in Anne Arundel County.  She worked for Bell’s Bus Company for 28 years before retiring in 1995, to watch her granddaughter Lauren.

     A lifelong Severn resident, her favorite pastimes were word searches, shopping, watching game shows and her “stories,” and vacationing in Ocean City, MD.

     Snookie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ron McMahan, her daughter, Donna Zimmerman, and her granddaughter, Lauren Zimmerman.  She is also survived by her brother, Butch Hood, and his wife Teresa, her sister-in-law, Barbara Weber, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers-in-law, Jack Weber and Ed McMahan, and her best friend and sister-in-law, Betty McMahan.

     Snookie's family would like to thank the staff of Autumn Lake of Crofton that helped care for Snookie for the past 4 years, just as they cared for her father, Gordon, and her mother-in-law, Rose.

    Family and friends are invited to gather at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2^nd Avenue, S.W. (at Crain Hwy), in Glen Burnie, on Monday, August 28^th, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, August 29^th, at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel.  Interment at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
