August L. Dorsett (Auggie) of Baltimore, Maryland passed away on April 24, 2021. Auggie was born on April 20th, 1944. He was a loving uncle, cousin and brother to a very small and close family. Auggie was a veteran of the United States Army where he obtained the rank of Sergeant. He had passion for theatre, arts, and public television. In the 1970’s Auggie was the Owner and entertainer of the Bolton Hill Dinner Theatre. Although he was always busy with acting and running the dinner theatre, it was hard to keep him out of the kitchen as he also had a passion for cooking. Auggie also managed two bars in Baltimore and Washington D.C.
In the 1970’s Auggie taught Theatre at Towson State University. In the early 80’s he was an actor on the show “Crabs” for Maryland Public Television. As the show started to gain more attention, Auggie was so excited as the show had the possibility of becoming a nationally broadcast television show. Unfortunately the show did not reach national levels, however Auggie continued working in theatre and television, acting in several commercials. Theatre, entertainment, and cooking were not the only things Auggie was passionate about. He was very active in the charities that he believed in, and often gave his time to community service. Outside of his work he was a very private person.
Auggie is survived by family and friends with many fond memories of him from all. Auggie will always be in the hearts and minds of the ones he touched. His presence and laughter and caring personality will always be remembered.
A Memorial Service will be scheduled for Auggie at a later date.
