Avis Loraine Thompson, 90, of Linthicum Heights, passed away on August 4, 2015. She was born in West Virginia, on September 30, 1924 to the late Martha and Zell Hartman.
Avis worked for Glenn L. Martin fabricating airplane parts as a part of the war effort during WWII. She was very active in her church, The Friendship Church of the Brethren. She served as financial secretary for a time, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and was a Deacon. Avis enjoyed keeping house, quilting, gardening and canning, and serving the church.
Avis was predeceased by her devoted husband of 44 years, Jacob H. Thompson, as well as her siblings, Max Hartman, Gladys Bennett, and Doris Colelaw. She is survived by her loving daughter, Annetta Rae Sekula and her husband Steve; her beloved grandchildren, Stephen J. Sekula and his wife Jodi Cooley, and Katherine Sekula and her husband J.C. Sanders; and her dear sister, Eva Propst.
