On November 3, 2005, Bernadean "Bernie" Beaston Lynch of Glen Burnie passed away at home after a courageous battle with cancer of the brain. She was born on October 23, 1930, in Newburg, Pennsylvania. Bernie started her schooling at four years of age by following her older brother to their one room school house at Potato Point. This one room school house was later dismantled , rebuilt and still stands today on the campus at Shippenburg State Teachers College in Shippensburg, PA. She graduated from Mechanicsburg High School in Mechanicsburg, PA in 1948. In 1953 Bernie enlisted in the United States Navy. Upon completion of Recruit Training and Radioman School in San Diego, CA, she was assigned duty in Washington, DC. In 1956 she was selected as one of the original ten WAVES to be assigned duty at NSGA, Bremerhaven, Germany. It was here that she met her future husband, James. They were married on February 16, 1957. The Lynch's moved into the Glen Burnie area in 1971. Bernie went to work with the Tower Federal Credit Union and retired in 1993 after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Harundale Presbyterian Church. She also enjoyed shopping, spending time with her grandchildren and many friends of the "Marley Milers" and also visiting casinos. Survivors include her beloved husband James, her loving children Jean Holland (of Woodland, WA) and Anne Clark (of Glen Burnie); her dear brother Lorrrain Beaston (of Enola, PA) and caring sister Rita Kramer (of Etters, PA). She is also the cherished grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother of 6.
