Bernard L. Brown, Sr., 89 of Glen Burnie passed away at his residence on March 3, 2014. He was born on April 5, 1924 in Claggettsville, MD. Mr. Brown joined the US Army in 1943, during WWII and served in China, Burma and India with the US Army Unit, known as Merrill's Marauders. On June 19, 1945 he was wounded in action and later received the Purple Heart. After the war, Bernard was a dispatcher at Ft. Meade and retired in 1972. He was a member of the DAV, Post 13. He loved fishing, hunting, crabbing and gardening.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by 12 siblings. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Alice E. Brown; devoted children, Sharon Whiteford and her husband Larry, Beverly Bronakoski and her husband, Jim and Bernard Brown, Jr. and his wife, Elaine; dear brother of Margaret Koontz; loving grandfather of six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
