Bette Jane Smith

               Bette Jane Smith, 100, of Millersville, MD, passed away at home comfortably on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph S. Smith, Jr., her son Joseph S. Smith, III and her brother Chester R. McElroy, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Barbara E. Smith-Graham and her husband James and her son Thomas B. Smith, four grandchildren: Leah L. Smith, Timothy W. Ward (Cynthia), Jessica Smith-Geida and Joseph S. Smith, IV; great-grandchildren William C. Ward and Brianna N. Smith.

         Bette was born in Lancaster, PA, January 23, 1924 to Chester R. and Catherine R. McElroy, Sr. There she met her future husband Joseph of Baltimore, MD while he was attending Bowman Technical School prior to his WWII Naval Service. Bette was a retired customer service representative for BGE.

         In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in her name to your favorite Veteran Organization. Her Services and Interment will be held at a later date privately at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Elkridge, MD.
