Birdy Bartelheim

Bertha “Birdy” Bartelheim, 62, of Severn passed away peacefully on December 31, 2018 surrounded by her family.

Birdy was born to Virginia and the late Ernest Gillis. She grew up in Ferndale, MD where she enjoyed spending time with her family. Birdy worked at Baltimore Washington Medical Center for 39 years where she started her career as a Candy Striper, then an LPN and finally an RN. Birdy loved her job, it was her passion to help her patients. It is where she met her husband of 39 years, Michael. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and cherished her time spent in the Word, prayer, and praising God.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest; sister, Linda; and mother-in-law, Betty.

Birdy is survived by her husband, Michael; daughters, Cristen and Cara; grandson, Kaidan; mother, Virginia; sister, Sharon; and brother, Will. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Life service will be celebrated on Sunday, Jan. 6th, 3 PM, at Faith Baptist Church, 7378 E. Furnace Branch Road, Glen Burnie. The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, Glen Burnie, on Monday, Jan. 7th, from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. A private burial will follow at MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
