On December 30, 2016, Calvin Leon "Hawk" Hargett, Sr., 89, passed away in his home. Calvin was born on August 13, 1927, to the late Nellie and James Hargett in Baltimore. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1945-1947, and went on to drive trucks for Teamsters Local 557 for 40 years. Calvin enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, taking day trips, and was an avid Baltimore Colts, Orioles, and Ravens fan.
Calvin is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Myrtle A. Hargett; his beloved sons, Calvin L. Hargett Jr. and his wife Trudy, and John R. Hargett; his loving grandsons, Thomas D. Hargett, Brian C. Hargett, and Kurtis M. Hargett; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Abbey S. Hargett, Elena L. Hargett, and Daniel P. Hargett.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave, SW (at Crain Hwy), in Glen Burnie on Wednesday, January 4th, from 3-5 and 7-9 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, January 5th, at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Calvin's name may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 8501 LaSalle Road, Suite 106, Towson, MD 21286 at www.mda.org.
