Carol Claar

Carol Ellen Claar , age 84, of Myrtle Beach, SC, died June 17, 2023.  Born in Altoona, PA.  She was the daughter of Blanche and Elmer Burkhart, and was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School ’56.  She was employed at the cotton candy stand at Lakemont Park in Altoona and waitress at Stovers Restaurant in Altoona.  Retired from Westinghouse at BWI Airport when they closed, after 15 ½ years of service.  Also worked for Gerschbeck’s grocery in Sun Valley for 8 years.

Surviving is her daughter, Colleen Keiper and husband, Rick Keiper of Myrtle Beach, SC; her son, Daniel Claar of Port Charlotte, Fla; her sister, Sheila Rorabaugh of Summerfield, FL,  her half-brother, Frank Burkhart and wife Barbara Burkhart of Crum Lynn, PA; her half-sister, Janice Welch and husband, Robert Welch of Aston, PA.  She has 5 grandchildren Jonathan Keiper and Matthew Keiper of Culpeper, VA and Stephanie Claar Lohff of Glen Burnie, MD, Jordan Claar and Ben Claar of Severna Park, MD, 1 Great Grandchild Melisa Lohff also of Glen Burnie, MD.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Friday, June 23rd from 4-7 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 24th at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
