Catherine Koonce

November 23, 1937 — June 14, 2021

Catherine Booth Koonce, daughter of the late William and Katie Booth, was born on November 23, 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the fourth of five children; three preceded her in death: George Booth, Walter Booth and Pearline Lucas. Catherine departed this life on June 14, 2021.

Catherine received her education in the Baltimore City School System and was the loving and devoted mother of two children: Jeffrey David Crowell and Kimberly Koonce.

Catherine worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital before moving on to the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. Then she was a dental assistant for several dentists before spending many years at Westinghouse. While at Westinghouse, she worked as a part-time Travel Agent. Her last place of employment was at the Comfort Inn, after which she retired.

After her sister Sue witnessed to her about the love and mercy of Jesus Christ, Catherine made a profession of faith.

An avid traveler and cruise enthusiast, Catherine’s favorite destinations included the Bahamas, Mexico and the Riviera. Her favorite hobby was traveling and she spent a lot of time cruising on the Carnival Cruise ships. She tried to get the whole family to go on cruises. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t. She had a firm belief that even though she was born in Baltimore, it didn’t mean that she had to stay in Baltimore. She felt she needed to travel and she did.

Catherine leaves to cherish her memory a faithful and devoted son Jeffrey David Crowell Sr., a loving and devoted daughter Kimberly Koonce, two loving adopted daughters Maria Amador and Debbie Arrington, one grandson Jeffrey David Crowell Jr., one adopted grandson Thomas Stonner, one loving sister Sue G. Thompson, and a host of committed and dedicated nephews and nieces: Tyrone Booth, Darryl Booth, Kent Booth, Kevin Thompson, Jackie Thompson, Nakitta (Trell) Stanislaus, Marshall Lucas, Jr., Catina Booth and Lakisha Booth. DeAndre Wilson had a special relationship with his aunt Catherine. He was more like a grandson than a nephew. Catherine also leaves a host of relatives and friends to cherish her memory.
