Charles Kirby

On November 8, 2008, Charles B. Kirby "Bert" of Linthicum. Beloved husband of Mary Kirby; loving father of Jim Kirby and Joan Holland; cherished grandfather of Kimberly Newhouse, Phillip and Lindsay Holland; devoted great-grandfather of Gabrielle and Hannah Newhouse; and dear brother of the late Thomas Kirby. Bert was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1920. He graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1938. He was a Sergeant in the US Army. During his service, he received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the WWII Victory Ribbon. He was a member of the Alarmers of Anne Arundel, Coast Guard Retirees, the Glen Burnie High School Alumni Class of 1938, and the Road to Recovery - American Cancer Society. He was a volunteer fireman of Linthicum and volunteered at Lutheran Hospital. He liked to collect old cameras, go bowling, and work in the yard. He coached the Optimist Football League and enjoyed delivering Meals On Wheels.
