Charles Richard Maynard, Sr., 87, a 60 year resident of Linthicum, died on March 8, 2012. Charles was born in 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland. He served in the US Army Air Corps in the Central Pacific during World War II. Dick earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Maryland. He worked at Westinghouse for 34 years where he was a Manager for the Air Arm Division. Dick was a member of the Lambda Chi Fraternity, Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association, a troop committee member for the Boyscouts, and the Anne Arundel County Bee Keeper's Association. He loved fishing, hunting, reading, was a Civil War buff, and a pilot and an aviation enthusiast; who enjoyed flying cross country and to the Bahamas for over 60 years. Dick was also a bee keeper and he donated his bees to the McDonogh School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Foster and Ethel Maynard; and his sister, Claire Adams. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan (Clark) Maynard; son, Charles R. Maynard, Jr. and wife Gordi Ann; three grandchildren, James Maynard, Jennifer Tolman and Jason Maynard; and two great-grandchildren, Grace and Colton Tolman.
