It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles F. Thrush Jr., who left us on March 27, 2025, at the age of 86 in Selbyville, DE.

Born in Baltimore, he was one of seven children to the late Marion A. and Charles F. Thrush. Charles proudly served his country in the Army, a testament to his dedication and honor. Following his military service, he devoted 32 years to the Baltimore City Police Department, where he worked tirelessly to keep his community safe, earning the respect and admiration of those he served alongside.

Charles was more than just a devoted officer; he was a vibrant member of the community. His memberships in the Fraternal Order of Police, the Glen Burnie Moose Lodge, and American Legion Post 276 reflected his commitment to camaraderie and service. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life—dancing, horse racing, and frequent visits to the casino, where laughter was always in abundance. A true sports enthusiast, he cheered passionately for his beloved Orioles and Ravens. Above all, Charles cherished time with his family and friends. He was truly the life of the party, always ready to share a laugh or a story, leaving a warm imprint on everyone he met.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 45 years, Barbara A. Thrush. Charles is survived by his loving children, Charles F. Thrush III and his wife, Laura, Kimberly A. Workley and her husband, Dennis; cherished grandchildren, Kirsten Workley, Alyssa Workley, Brooke Workley and Sierra Thrush; and his dear siblings, Charlotte Irwin, Mary Hart, Bill Thrush, Janice Mahoney, Karen Eder and Sharon Sherman. He will also be missed by many loving nieces and nephews; and his beloved companions, Pepe and Cookie.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4th, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, 10 AM, in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church Cemetery in Dundalk, MD.
