Charles Waltz

Charles William Waltz, 88, of Glen Burnie, passed away on September 5, 2016, at Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Severna Park. Charles was born in Sherrill, NY on January 16, 1928, to the late Hazel and Lewis Waltz. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1945-1955 achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class and earning the Bronze Star Medal. Charles went on to work at the Social Security Administration from 1956-1979 earning the Commissioner's Citation, the agency's highest award for his involvement in the critical case process. He was an active member of Glen Burnie Baptist Church and enjoyed crossword puzzles, bowling, local college sports, and watching the Orioles and Ravens.
Charles is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Imogene Waltz; his beloved children, Duane M. Waltz, Mark G. Waltz and his wife Michelle, and Cheryl L. Heilker and her husband Eric; and his loving grandchildren, Morgan D. Waltz, Matthew R. Waltz, Kiersten C. Waltz, and Logan M. Waltz. Charles was predeceased by five sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be held at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave, SW (at Crain Hwy), in Glen Burnie, on Saturday, September 10th, from 3-5 PM. On Sunday, September 11th, visitation will be held from 2-4 PM at Glen Burnie Baptist Church, 7524 Old Stage Road in Glen Burnie, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Charles' name may be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
