Constance Naomi Purcell

Constance (Connie) N. Purcell, 86, went to be with Jesus Christ on July 23, 2023. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, John, her children Kellie Barker of Chestertown, MD; Paige Purcell (fiancé Don Claxton) of Bel Air, MD and sister, Dottie Purper of Baltimore, MD. She was the grandmother of Breanne (husband Al) Waters, the late Amy Barker and great grandmother of Ally Waters. She was the daughter of the late Dora (Dottie) and Walter Richmond. 

Connie was born Jan. 10, 1937 in Baltimore, MD.  She worked for C&P Telephone Company, Baltimore MD, owned her own custom drapery business (Connie’s Custom Draperies, Linthicum, MD) then was employed with Decorating Den, Baltimore, MD and Calico Corners, Annapolis, MD.  

Her interests included participating in Bible Study, Doll Club and she was active at Halethorpe Community Church. During her life she was involved with Children’s Puppet Ministry at Linthicum Baptist Church, Meals on Wheels, teaching others to read (ESL), volunteering at a Teen Pregnancy Center, making hats for preemies and packing boxes for Samaritan’s Purse. She wanted to be remembered as a follower of Jesus Christ. 

Family and Friends are invited to gather at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, 1 2nd Avenue S.W., Glen Burnie, MD 21061, on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.  Visitation will be held 10-11:30 am prior to the service at 11:30 am, followed by Interment @ 1:00 pm Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
