Darrell Brooks

July 30, 1964 — February 12, 2023

Glen Burnie

On Sunday, February 12, 2023, Darrell Neal Brooks of Pasadena, MD, formerly of Glen Burnie, MD passed away peacefully.

DARRELL NEAL BROOKS, was born on July 30, 1964 in Baltimore, Maryland, along with his twin sister, Angela L. Brooks. On February 12, 2023, Darrell was welcomed with open arms to his new heavenly home by his parents, Maxie and Barbara (Rice) Brooks Jr.

Darrell attended The Maryland School for the Blind from age 5 and continued until he graduated on June 2, 1985.

In June 1986, Darrell entered the Mountain Road #1 group home under Gallagher Services, a division of Catholic Charities. There he lived a full and happy life for over 35 years. During that timeframe, he attended the Providence Center Day Program, further enriching his life.

Darrell was well-loved and cared for by his family, especially by his devoted sister Angela, affectionally known as “Pebbles”.  He was active in both of his church homes: Lake Shore Baptist Church, Pasadena, Maryland, and Brooklyn Community United Methodist Church, Brooklyn Park, Maryland, where he was a member. Darrell enjoyed bonding with family and friends. He looked forward to attending family celebrations, cookouts, pool parties, get-togethers, traveling, and vacationing on cruise ships. He also enjoyed chatting on the telephone, attending local craft fairs, and baking Christmas cookies with his sister and his late grandmother, Ophelia Lina Williams.

Darrell will be sincerely missed by everyone. He leaves to rejoice in his memory: devoted twin sister, Angela Brooks (Mark); two aunts, Violetta A. Williams and Lavania Fitzpatrick; one uncle, Michael Williams; his devoted housemates at Mountain Road #1, Monte, Kim, Perry, Carl, Mark, and Larry; and a host of cousins, relatives, friends, and direct support professionals (DSPs).
