David Helowicz

David Joseph Helowicz, 60, of Pasadena, passed away at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Baltimore to Elizabeth Jane and the late Frank John Helowicz. He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed going to the beach, crabbing, boating, sailing, water skiing and traveling. His greatest joy of all was spending time with his family, especially his “girls” and his beloved dog, Franklin. Dave was the ultimate handyman, he could fix anything.  If he wasn’t building something he was making repairs…even on vacations. Dave worked in medical sales and valued his role within the company and the many friendships that he formed.   Dave was also an animal lover, he never said no to a rescue.

David is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Donna DeLawder; cherished daughters, Allison and Christina; loving mother, Elizabeth Helowicz; and his dear siblings, Bonita Duffield, Catherine Helowicz and Andrea Hutchens. He will also be missed by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  He also leaves behind 1 cat, 4 dogs and 8 chickens.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 31st, 11:30 AM, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 4760 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to The Eye Tumor Research Foundation by visiting www.etrf.org
