Demetra Bowers (Vlahos) “Dee Dee”
August 3, 1946 – July 21, 2023
She was born in Baltimore, Maryland and lived in Brooklyn Park, where she attended school. She then moved with her family to Linthicum Heights, Maryland in 1959.
In 1974, she married the love of her life, Phillip Bowers. In March, they celebrated 49 years of marriage. She worked different jobs for the State of Maryland and retired from Spring Grove State hospital in 2005.
She was an avid gardener with a green thumb for any plant that she touched. Dee enjoyed going to the malls to shop, but was best known as Miss QVC online shopper. She loved to travel with her husband taking many one-day trips, going to places like Greece, Mexico, Bahamas, Hawaii, but her most favorite place was Disney World. She also loved music, especially The Beatles! She loved to bake, cook, and to entertain. More than anything her greatest joy in life was spending cherished time with her family and friends, especially on holidays and birthdays.
She had a funny disposition, strong wit, and a loving and caring heart.
Along with her parents, the late George and Helen Vlahos, Dee Dee was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Vlahos. She is survived by her beloved husband, Phillip N. Bowers; her dear siblings, Sophia Cohen and her husband, Mark; John Vlahos and his wife, Darlene; and Nick Vlahos; and her sister-in-law, Peggy Vlahos. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, loving friends and family.

If you wish to love me still,
when I leave,
you can,
by loving life,
by loving all that is life,
by loving yourself most of all,
the way that I loved you.
For now, that I cannot,
You must.
