Donald John Nurmi, Jr. , 83 of Pasadena, Maryland passed away on April 2, 2023.
Donald retired from the United States Air Force as Chief Master Sergeant in 1982. He was born and raised in Upper Michigan and comes from proud Finnish and English ancestry. He enjoyed a full life living and traveling all over the world including Italy, Germany, Turkey, Spain, England and Ireland. Donald enjoyed reading spy novels, traveling and good food. His sense of humor, dad jokes and laugh will be missed. He is survived by his wife, Apollonia Nurmi; his daughter, Cristina Vanderslice and her husband, Jerry; and his son, Steve Nurmi and his wife, Jessica; his grandchildren, Joseph Vanderslice, Marina Vanderslice, Vincent Nurmi and Christian Nurmi; his siblings, Elaine Kaminen, Wayne Nurmi and Jim Aird.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 12 noon to 1 pm. There will be a private burial for immediate family at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
