Donald Smith, Sr

Donald Francis Smith, Sr., 86, of Linthicum, passed away on August 28, 2015. He was born in Baltimore on August 24, 1929 to the late Katherine and Elmer Smith. Donald served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Private First Class and went on to work as a fire fighter at MD Dry Dock. He was a devout Catholic and he loved spending time with his family, hunting and fishing with his son, and playing the slot machines. In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his grandson, Donnie Smith and his brother, Joseph Smith.
Donald is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Lillian; his loving children, Donald Smith Jr. and his wife Anita, and Linda Riddiough and her husband Michael; his beloved grandchildren, Melinda Trombley, Dennis Cusick Jr., Kathy Wood, Cristina Smith, and David Smith; his five cherished great-grandchildren; and his dear sister, Catherine Thompson.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy), on Thursday, September 3, from 3-5 and 7-9 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 4, at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.
