Donald D. Stockton, 87, of Hanover, passed away on March 22, 2022. He was born in Arapaho, Oklahoma, the 10th of 11 children, born to the late Charles Wesley and Ida Mae (Dewees) Stockton. Donald graduated from Arapaho High School in 1953. He joined the United States Air Force in 1956 and faithfully served his country until 1979 when he retired after an accomplished career. He also served a tour in Vietnam. Donald married the love of his love, Delores June Peters, in 1958. Following his military career, he began a new career with NSA, until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the VFW, Military Order of the Cootie and American Legion Post 40. Donald enjoyed being active and giving of his time through charitable acts with the Cootie organization. An accomplished player, his passion was playing the guitar. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores; and his 10 siblings.
He leaves to cherish precious memories, son, Donald D. Stockton Jr. (Stephanie) and Debra Mondragon (Frank); cherished grandchildren, Donald Stockton III, Tosha Stockton (Jason) and Delores Mondragon (Chris Smith); dear brother-in-law, Edmond “Butch” Peters; cherished friend, Nancy McReynolds; and his extended VFW family.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. S. W. (at Crain Hwy) on Thursday, March 31st, from 10:30 – 11:30 AM. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 11:30 AM, in the funeral home chapel. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation by visiting www.kidney.org .
