Doris Mae Callahan passed away peacefully at home on February 11th, shortly after celebrating her 90th birthday. Born on January 6th and raised in Baltimore, Maryland by the late William and Beatrice Kolbe, Doris spent her early years as a high-fashion retailer, working in many shops/boutiques before retiring. She was also a cake decorator, to include wedding cakes and all special occasions. Known for her cooking and baking, Doris was quite the hostess at entertaining parties, and will forever be remembered for all of her special homemade dishes. She especially loved gardening and celebrating all holidays with her family, but really shined at Christmas with her decorating, baking and Christmas spirit.
Doris is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Norman Callahan, and her three daughters, Deborah (Carvel) Broseker, Donna (Larry) Bullen, and Brenda (Herb) Anderson. She also has 10 cherished grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles (Bud) Lindner, whom she was married to for 25 years, and her daughter Barbara Myers.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave S.W. (at Crain Hwy), in Glen Burnie on Thursday, February 15, from 4-8pm, and a Celebration of Life Service will be performed by Deacon Bob Herzog at Singleton’s Chapel on Friday, February 16, at 10am. Interment to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
