Doris Lewis

Doris "Peggy" Elizabeth Lewis, 92, longtime Severn resident passed away on Oct. 2, 2017 surrounded by her family.
Doris was born in Baltimore on Feb. 9, 1925 to the late Ezra Calvert and Verona Maretta (Dean) Shenton. She attended St. Clements Catholic School and Catonsville High School. She married Wilbert H. Lewis, Sr. on October 24, 1942, together they shared 57 years of marriage. Doris and Wilbert founded Odenton Hardware in 1959. She was the quintessential homemaker and enjoyed traveling and family gathering. Her faith was very important to her, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Odenton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Deanna Marie Lewis; son, Stephen Lewis; siblings, Norman and Calvin Shenton, Catherine Habel, Helen Harris, Marie Watts, and Madeline Chambers. She is survived by her children, Wilbert (Jacqueline), Daniel (Karen), David (Gloria), and Richard (Diane) Lewis; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, 1 2nd Ave, SW, (at Crain Hwy), Glen Burnie, on Thursday, Oct 5, from 3 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM for a visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at, St. Joseph Catholic Church 1283 Odenton Rd, Odenton, MD 21113 at 11 AM on Friday, October 6. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.
