Doris May Roy, 65, a resident of Linthicum for 22 years, passed away peacefully at her home in the comfort her family following a courageous battle with cancer. Doris was born in Baltimore, MD on November 26, 1949 to the late Emma and John B. Wheeler, Jr.
She was employed with the State of Maryland, working as an assistant manager in taxpayer accounting, retiring in 2012. She was former Treasurer of Shipley Fairmount Homeowners Association, and member of St. John Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, Ya Ya's and South Baltimore Girls. Doris volunteered at Park Elementary School, the Hemophilia Association of MD and Beans & Bread, serving food to the homeless.
She enjoyed connecting with her friends on Facebook, playing trivia and BINGO, bowling, walking the BWI trail and spending time with her family, hosting dinner every Friday. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John B. Wheeler, III,
Doris is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Jim; daughter, Sandy Bennett and son-in-law, Dan; four grandsons, Zach, Alex, Nate and Noah; and three siblings, Fritz Wheeler, Robert Wheeler and Bessie Spioch.
