Dorothy Hammond

Dorothy S. Hammond, 88, of Odenton, passed away on September 15, 2015. She was born in Mayfield, Maryland (now a part of Odenton). She graduated from the old Arundel High School in 1944. She was married to John Hartzell Hammond, Sr. for 52 ½ years, and he preceded her in death in 1997. Dorothy worked for the National Plastic Products Company, in Odenton, The Post Engineers at Ft. Meade, Odenton Federal Savings and Loan, Meade Heights Elementary School, and O'Meara Properties retiring in 1989. She enjoyed eggery, yardwork, reading and her work with the Odenton Heritage Society.

In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Margaret Eckman, and her sisters, Catherine Herder Sigler and Ana C. Deinlein. She is survived by her sons, John H. Hammond, Jr. and his wife, Margaret; and Charles E. Hammond; her grandchildren, Courtney Anne Portch and her husband, Bryan; and Bryan A. Hammond; and her great-grandson, Tyler W. Portch
