Dr. Betty Shubkagel

Dr. Betty Lou Shubkagel, 77, of Crownsville, Maryland passed away on April 18, 2010 at her home. Dr. Shubkagel was born in Baltimore, MD in 1932 to the late William Cyrus Shubkagel and the late Clara Elsie (Knopp) Shubkagel. She was a graduate of Glen Burnie High School in 1950. Thereafter she received a BS in Nursing, an MS in Medical Surgical Nursing and a PhD in Educational Administration. Dr. Shubkagel had an extensive nursing career and was a teacher of nursing until she retired. She belonged to many organizations including the American Heart Association, American Nurses Association, National League for Nursing, and the American Association of Critical Care Nursing. Her hobbies included fishing and crabbing, RV travelling throughout the US and Canada, the theater and the symphony. She also was a ticket holder of MD Terps basketball for 40 years and did extensive travelling in Europe. She was the cherished partner of Dr. Julie C. Fortier of 41 years.
