On October 25, 2010, Earl Harry Wheeler, Sr. "WART" of Ferndale; beloved husband of 60 years of Gloria Viola Wheeler; devoted father of son, Earl Harry Wheeler, Jr. and his wife Patty, and daughter Cindy Jane Stitz and her husband Bob; loving grandfather of Addie Thomas, Heather Alimo, David Wheeler, Kara Wheeler, Daniel Wheeler, Ashley Stitz, and Katelyn Wheeler; dear great-grandfather of 3. He was preceded in death by 3 sons, Glenn Harry Wheeler, Scott Harry Wheeler, and Clint Harry Wheeler, and his parents, Evelyn Elizabeth Wheeler and Evan David Wheeler. Earl Graduated from Poly-Technic and was an Eagle Scout. He worked as an auto mechanic for 53 years, then at Budget Rental Car for the past 12 years. Earl served in the US Marine Corps. He was activated from Fort McHenry in the 7th Engineering Battalion, also known as "The Sexy 7" in the United States Marine Corps serving in Korea for two years. Earl was a part of the Korea Theater of Operation. He participated in the Wonsan-Hungnam-Chosin Campaign in Northern Korea. Earl also participated in Operations Against Enemy Forces in South & Central Korea. He was a part of the Fraternity of honor of the Chosen Few. Earl was a member of the Marine Corps League and American Legion. He loved being a grandfather and great-grandfather; and was known as a real "people person". He enjoyed baseball and football. His hobbies also included doing yardwork, woodworking, building birdhouses, fishing and he liked the ocean. Earl adored his wife and family, especially his wife, she meant the world to him.
