Edgar Collison

Edgar Leroy Collison, 88, of Parkton formerly of Brooklyn Park passed away peacefully on July 4, 2018 with his beloved family at his side.
Edgar was born in Baltimore to the late Edgar Luther and Margaret (Hinkle) Collison. He graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1948. He married the love of his life Reta Jane on Jan. 7, 1950. He served in the Marines from 1948-52 Sgt. 1st. Marine Division. He received the Korean Service Medal with 3 stars, Pres. Unit Citation with 1 star, and Good Conduct Medal-UN Medal. He was a member of the V.F.W, and Chosen Few-Maryland Chapter 1 Marine Visitation. After his faithful service to our country he took classes in Ft. Belvoir for general surveying. He was a surveyor from 1952-56. In 1956 he began his career with the Postal Service as a letter Carrier for 29 years. He was a man of deep faith. He had been a member of Arbutus Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and later Linthicum Baptist Church. He enjoyed tennis, bowling, watching college basketball and football. He was a loving and easy going man who made friends everywhere he went. He loved God, his family, and his country.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 55 ½ years, Reta Jane Collison, his sister, Helen Staicer.
He is survived by his children, William E. and Mark W. Collison, and Dawn R. Weeks and Tracie J. Glorioso; 8 beloved grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Monday, July 9th from 3-5 & 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 10th at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.
