Edith Rohde George, "Boots", died peacefully on Friday, September 7, 2012, just 4 days after celebrating her 96th birthday. She was born September 3, 1916, in Glen Burnie to the late William and Nellie Rohde.
When her beloved husband, John C George, Jr., died suddenly in 1960, she returned to the work force in the accounting office of Anne Arundel County where she retired after 25+ years. She dealt with the loss of her hearing in a courageous manner. She was a loving, supportive mother to her 2 children throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her 2 sisters, Evelyn Norkus and Clara Disney, and sister-in-law Marie Getz. She is survived by her daughter, Jill Fleisher and husband Les of Pinehurst, NC, and her son, John C George, III and wife Margaret of Glen Burnie, and 2 grandsons, Michael George and Kevin George and wife Kristin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in her honor be made to her church, the Glen Burnie United Methodist Church, 5 Second Avenue SE, Glen Burnie, MD 21061.
