Ed Baumgardner, 82, passed away on November 25th at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, MD. He was born in Philipsburg, PA to the late Walter and Nellie Baumgardner. Ed was raised in Altoona, PA and graduated from Altoona High School in 1952. He Married Marjory Ann Reed, and they had a son together named Reed. Marjory passed away in 1998, after 45 years of marriage with Ed.
Ed served in the US Army at Fort Meade during the Korean conflict, and was honorably discharged in November of 1961.
Mr. Baumgardner was employed for 29 years with Baltimore Gas & Electric and retired in February of 1994.
He met and married Joan E. Yearick (nee Kestler) in April 2002. They enjoyed several cruises together, as well as trips to; Williamsburg, Orlando, Myrtle Beach, Wisconsin Dells, and Las Vegas. Summer months were spent camping near Coalport, PA.
Ed was devoted to his church family at Harundale Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Civitan Club, and District 32 Democratic Club. Ed enjoyed many years of volunteer work with Opportunity Builders, Inc., (OBI), which trains and employs developmentally handicap workers. Reed, Ed's son, worked there after graduating high school until his passing in 2001.
Mr. Baumgardner is survived by his wife of 13 years, Joan.
