It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward Walter Sautter, 91, on February 13, 2025. Affectionately known as Ed and Pop, he was born in Baltimore to the late Edward George and Eva Anna Sautter. Born into a large family of eight siblings, he was raised in South Baltimore. Ed enlisted in the Army during the Korean War and honorably served from April 2, 1951, to March 9, 1954, achieving the rank of Corporal.

After his military service, he went on to serve his community for a short time as a Baltimore City police officer for the southern district. He went on to work for many companies including: HB Davis Company as a truck driver, Harrison Bolt/Nut Company as a lathe operator and finally at Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company as a warehouseman, retiring in 1995, after 32 years of service.

Ed was a member of the American Legion Post 40 in Glen Burnie. He enjoyed animals, shooting pool, cold beer, fishing, crabbing and cheering on his favorite teams, the Orioles and Ravens. In his younger years, he was active in boy scouts and enjoyed swimming off the Hanover Street Bridge. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 62 years, Donna Jean Sautter (nee McGee); beloved son, Mark E. Sautter; loving grandchildren, Chelsea Kaline and Dennis Rodenhausen; and his dear siblings, George Sautter, Katherine Sautter, Marie Zeller, Elaine Lembach, Laverne Gemmel, Evelyn Szczeszek and James Sautter.

Ed is survived by his loving children, Donna L. Kaline and her husband, Rick, Harald Rodenhausen and his wife, Roswitha; cherished grandchildren, Brandi Sautter (Jamie), Lexie Scott (Alex) and Kevin Rodenhausen (Jacky); and his adored great-grandsons, Caleb Bowers and Sam Rodenhausen. He will also be missed by his loving sister, Janice Howard; and many nieces and nephews.
