Born in Canton and raised in Highlandtown, the son of Edward John Shannon Sr. and Margaret E. Shannon (nee Dasch) of 30 S. Potomac St. Ed is survived by one brother, Thomas Shannon. He is married to the former Donna Vaughan Crocetti Di Pietro. He is the father of Sharon Kathleen Shannon Gersuk of Pikesville, MD, Kevin Richard Shannon of NJ and Dennis Patrick Shannon, Sr. of Pasadena, MD and the late Sean Shannon. Stepfather of Teresa Black and Michael Di Pietro both of Alabama. He has nine grandchildren. Ed attended St. Bridgetts and St. Elizabeth's schools, graduated from Baltimore City College evening High School. Served in the old MD State Guard during WWII by lying about his age (15 yrs). Went into the 29th military police co. when the division was reformed. Volunteered for active duty in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War.
Mr. Shannon worked for the Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. from 1956 to 1991. In the electric systems operation department, he was a sr. outage technician at the Rutherford complex where he retired. While working for BG&E, he served in the Naval Reserves as a Navy Seabee. From 1958 to 1988. Retiring as a first class construction electrician and as a career counselor for his unit. Served AA CO voluntary fire department for 20 plus years. Retired as a captain of fire prevention. He was also a lifetime member in American Legion Post #40, VFW Post #2462 and Mason Lodge 213. His greatest loved was his children, his wife and his country.
