Following his education, Edward served with honor in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. This period of military service instilled in him a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence that would define his professional life.
With a passion for aviation, Edward held a commercial pilot's license and dedicated 30 years as a Supervisory Air Traffic Control Specialist at Baltimore/Washington International Airport under the Federal Aviation Administration. His expertise ensured the safety and efficiency of countless flights, showcasing his unwavering commitment to the aviation industry.
Beyond his professional achievements, Edward achieved his Bachelor of Arts in Business and Transportation Management from the University of Baltimore. He was also deeply involved in his community and found great joy in mentoring young minds. He served as an Adult Leader for the Boy Scouts of America for 20 years, a role that allowed him to inspire and guide the next generation.
Edward is survived by his son, Robert A. Sheppard, daughter-in-law, Karen L. Sheppard, and granddaughter, Nicole P. Sheppard, who carry forward his legacy of dedication, integrity, and love for family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Mary Sheppard, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years of marriage, and his parents, Dorothy and William C. Sheppard. Edward William Sheppard will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for the warmth and love he offered to those around him. He leaves behind a lasting impact on all who knew him, symbolizing a life well-lived and a heart full of compassion.
