Eleanor (Beavin) Hoyt "Ellie," of Franklin Park, PA, passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2016, at age 64, in Linthicum, where she was staying while visiting her family during the Christmas holiday. Eleanor was born in Baltimore in 1952 and raised in Linthicum Heights. She graduated from Andover High School and then graduated from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio in 1974. She earned a degree in Education and taught junior high school as a special education teacher for 33 years at North Hills School District in Pittsburgh. Ellie was an avid reader and actively engaged in genealogy of the Beavin family history.
She married Richard B. Hoyt of Pittsburgh, upon graduation from college. Richard, who also attended Wittenberg University, had a long career in the construction and operation of water and waste water treatment plants before retiring in 2011. Eleanor was an outstanding teacher and won a prestigious award for excellence in special education. She retired in 2007.
Ellie is survived by her husband of 42 years, Richard B. Hoyt; her father, Benjamin E. Beavin, Jr. of Linthicum, MD; her sister Marcia Bennett (David) of Timonium, MD; and her brother Benjamin E. Beavin, III of Linthicum, MD. Ellie is also survived by nieces, nephews, one great-nephew and one great-niece. She was predeceased by her mother, Corrine Wetteland Beavin. A private graveside service will be held in Pittsburgh in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
