Elizabeth Ann Szydlowski

Betty, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the proud matriarch of her family, passed away at the age of 78 on April 9, 2025.

Betty’s life was a testament to unconditional love, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was the heart of every gathering, the first to lend a hand or offer a warm embrace, and the one everyone turned to for comfort and wisdom. Her home was always open, filled with the smells of home-cooked meals, the sounds of children’s laughter, and welcoming to all. She raised her family with grace and compassion, teaching by example how to live with kindness, patience, and resilience. As a great-grandmother, she brought joy and gentle guidance to even the youngest branches of her family tree, and her nurturing spirit will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Betty was also well known as the owner of Hair 2000 & Hair 2002, a Glen Burnie staple for 60+ years. When not tending to her family, you would most likely find her by her husband, Albert’s side, either at the salon, or out for a drive and a nice meal. If not there, she was likely getting her nails done or at the casino playing the slots with June.

Though words will never fully capture the impact she had, Betty’s legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and in the strong, loving family she helped shape and we are forever grateful for the life we shared with her.

As she joins her husband and many others in heaven, she was, and always will be, the heart of our family.

Betty is survived by her children: Kelly, Danny, Gary Sr., and Phillip; grandchildren: Gary Jr., Albert, Craig, Jeremy, Norah, Travis, Corey, Nolan, Conner, and Raquel; great-grand-children: Grace, Isabella, Olivia, and Gary III; siblings: June and Carl, and so many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

To honor her memory, visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services in Glen Burnie, MD. The funeral will take place the following day on Wednesday, April 16, at 12:00 PM, in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you simply hold your loved ones close, just as Betty always did.
